iZone Training..
Through my involvement with Formula Woman, on the 3rd of September I was fortunate enough to have an entire days training with iZone in Silverstone along with my fellow competitors. Previous to this training I haven’t had much experience with simulator training. My eldest brother let me borrow his Logitech Driving Force GT steering wheel and pedals with the rFactor 2 game that I was using on my youngest brothers PC. I personally have never gotten on well with playing racing games with a controller but the steering wheel set-up was a lot better for me. The only other problem I had at the beginning with this set-up was trying to trick my brain into thinking I was driving a real car on a real track, I found this challenging at home and I also learnt that I rely heavily on the feel of the car and couldn’t control the car on screen as well as I’d control a car in person.
The simulator set-up they have at iZone is incredible especially compared to my home set-up. I was a lot more comfortable using their simulators and my performance was miles better than on my home set-up. This set-up teamed with the great coaches on hand mentoring us was incredible. Everyone started at different levels but we all improved drastically with their guidance and equipment. Not to mention they were a great team at iZone and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day. Especially the team races at the end of the day!
